yeah that one should do the 5.1 (has DTS) however the reviews are umm... shall we say **mixed at best.

perhaps these might be worth a look...

it is about the only thing else, I can think of that should do your 5.1 requirement on optical with the DTS support for around $50

The Asus Xonar DS is a pretty good one. And it does support 7.1 surround sound. I have the card in my system.

Ports
Line In=Yes
Line Out=yes
Front/Side/Center-Subwoofer/Back=yes
SPDIF Out=Yes
MIC In=Yes
CD/Aux In=Yes

(btw, always get the newest drivers from the maker's website)

I would stay away from soundblaster cards, almost ZERO support for drivers, just look at their forums of alot of pissed off people for the lack of support.

Thank you, But that card does not have optical output and that is what i need. Unless you can tell me how i would connect my speakers directly to those inputs. Is there an adapter that you put the wires in then put it in the card? And my speakers are not bare ended clampable wires at the ends, they have a plastic end that specifically fits in my samsung dvd plaer. Would stripping some of the wire and taking of the ends work?
Thanks
