I did find cheap AMD CPU.So I was thinking build NAS.
I do have all other parts but I need MoBo. So what is good?
CPU is AMD 965BE and was thinking Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3
This is not maybe best cpu for NAS but did find it and I have nothing else so..

Any suggestions? Is MoBo good or is there better options? Under 150$ price plz :)
I have PSU and video card from my old rig memory I have 3 2GB sticks. So is 4GB enough for NAS or do I need 8GB? Do I need NAS have more than one LAN?

I have two seagate 3TB barracuda so need to buy just two more. I have memory. PSU , video card- What do I need? Case and cooler + 2 more HDD? And maybe SSD.

So is this any good? :)

massively overpowered for a nas, what OS are you using? consider whsv1/2011 as the backup feature works really well (just saved me from a reinstall after a dodgy win update).

Like I said. I have all parts. Only parts I need is MoBo. + CPU cooler.
I did not think what OS I going to use. Free NAS? Im open to suggestions. Only parts I really need is MoBo+ Cpu cooler. I do have one old case and can use that for start. I have two 3TB Seagate barracuda so not much issue buy two new. Sure I want better case for nas. But old one I can use start. I have PSU , memory. Just need mobo + cpu cooler :D
So that is just 150 or so. + maybe 2 seagate barracuda 3TB drives.
100 / piece.

find a mobo with large numbers of sata ports, no need for sataiii particularly as the network will bottleneck it. ensure GBe as 100Mb will be rubbish. Underclock the CPU perhaps to keep it quiet and to nt make it a power hog as it will be on 24x7

personally i'm using whsv1, and the disk pooling feature is a lot more flexible than raid providing you follow the rules. adding an extra disk to raid is a pita.

Must look how much more price gets up if I go with "better" mobo with more sata ports.

Sure must try that underclocking with this cpu.
I get that cpu next week and then Im going too look mobo.
Did find one used gigabyte but lookingnow better ones.
100 for mobo + cpu do sound too bad? cpu price was 32 + shipping costs. So Im lookin cheap 60 + mobo. New ones are 120-170
So If can save 100 there it is good. Then have more money to trow to HDD's :)  And buy new good case.

I think you'll regret a poor mobo choice quicker than less storage as you can always add more storage (unless you are raiding i suppose). Win8 with disk pooling also looks good but lacks some functionality for server usage.

Yeah. I know that mobo is not best. But I did make deal.
60€ price that was best I can find.+ 32 cpu It is not so bad.
I can chance the mobo. If can find better :)

Not issue for me :)  Sure I can build normal pc from it and sell it away.
Lets see what happens. Im building all kind of builds all the time so :)
I have not tryed AMD since XP cpu. So kind of new to me try AMD and I think mobo can do new 8 core cpu. So can upgrade it easy.
Now I have 3930k build + X-58 build and now this AMD is 3rd build :D
Maybe I need to sell couple away hehe :)  Now Im looking cheap memory and case :)

Next time I look something like this for NAS build :D
