I haven't bought my pc yet since my motherboard and video card died just last week (my mobo was built-in and video card was geforce gt120) but I'm planning on buying the following:

Specs:
RAM: Gskill 4gbx2 ripjaws 1600
Motherboard: Gigabyte A55
Processor: AMD A6540
Power Supply: Cougar 700watts (taken from old pc)
Video Card: I'm not sure if I should go for 6570/6670/GTX 650 TI/HD 7770
Overclocking: No
Monitor Resolution: 1440x900
I was told 6570/6670 would work with the motherboard's APU so it would be a good choice by the technician in the store. But I don't want my games to lag either so I've been looking at GTX 650 TI/HD 7770. I'm not looking at other video cards unless they're in the same price of those I listed or abit lower/higher.
My current games are League of Legends and Dota 2 which I want to play on high/max settings And I run a couple of flash apps too while I'm playing LoL or Dota 2. I don't have any plans yet either on playing something like Crysis 2. I'll be sticking to mmorpg/rts only.

Any advice would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi,

One piece of advice I would like to give you is that, don't get an APU when you are getting a separate GPU- it makes very little sense because the GPU in the APU is being wasted. Instead consider an AMD FX CPU + a good GPU. I would recommend an FX6300 or FX8350 for the CPU.

For the GPU, I think you should choose between the 7770 and 650ti. However, I would recommend the 650ti because it is quite a bit better than the 7770. Either way, make sure you choose a 2GB or higher version of the card in order to keep up with next gen games' demands. Both of the following are great cards:

GTX 650ti: http://www.amazon.co.uk/GeForce-Graphics-Express-Displa...

7770 :http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-7770-Radeon-Graphics-Card/...

Hope this helps!

I only have enough budget for the 1gb version of the 650ti/7770. Do you suggest I get another model instead? And, will gigabyte A55 be any good with AMD FX6300? I can only afford the 6300, the 8350 is a bit too expensive for me atm :(
Oh, and I have quite a bit of a tight budget for either a good processor or a good GPU. I can either get gtx 650ti with the amd a6540 or amd fx6300 with hd 6670 :|. I'll be able to upgrade within a few months though.

Hi there again,

Thats not a problem. Unfortunateluy the A55 motherboard is not compatibble with the fx CPUs because it is a different chipset and different socket. How about the following combination??:

ASUS M5A78L-M/USB3 motherboard :http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-M5A78L-M-USB3-Motherboard-...

AMD FX-6300: http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-FX6300-Edition-4-1GHz-Socke...

RADEON HD 7750 2GB : http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-R7750-DDR3-PCI-E-Graphics/d...

I feel the above is the best compromise for your situation. You can even get the FX-4170 if the fx-6300 is too expensive. Also, if you get the 7750, later on you can upgrade and add a 7770 with it. They can be crossfired together. Also, the 7750 which I have suggested is the 2gb version.

Otherwise, if all this is too expensive.. how about getting the AMD A10- 6800K , it has a good built in GPU and you can upgrade to a separate GPU whenever you want. This combination can be done as follows:

AMD A10-6800K : http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Processor-AD680KWOHLBOX-Tec...

ASUS F2A85-M Motherboard : http://www.amazon.co.uk/F2A85-M-Motherboard-S-ATA-Expre...

Hope this helps!!

Both of those mobo will support Gskill 1600 4gbx2 ripjaws ram right?
As I'm not very familiar with these boards, do you suggest I get a different series of gskill ram instead or stick to ripjaws as I haven't bought the memory yet.

Hi again,

Yes, both should support the G skills rip jaws. You can verify and check memory compatibility on the ASUS website. Navigate to the motherboard model's specific page then go to support then click on memory/device support. This will tell you exactly what models of memory are Qualified and tested with the board (QVL- Qualified Vendor List ). However, if your memory is not on the list, it doesn't necessarily mean it is not compatible, it is just that it hasn't been tested by ASUS.

hope this helps!!
