in all the tutorial videos I've seen the method is to delete everything in the drive then convert, but my windows is installed on this drive and deleting my OS will not let me complete part 2 (converting to GPT).

(NOTE) all my Data is Backed up on a different drive so data loss isnt a concern AND this other drive also has 150GB left

you are changing the fundemental structure of the hdd, you'll lose the data, backup and restore, although windows may not like being changed.

so when you install the new copy of windows you need to format the drive etc. and chose the gpt disk.
