I want to control monitor/tv brightness from my MAC keyboard. I understand the trick to this is connecting a USB cable from the Mac to the display device. Currently I have a Samsung 22" TV hooked up via HDMI cable hooked into an HDMI switch. The TV does have a usb port but it is a type A. So, this either tells me: I need an A to A usb cable OR I should have purchased a monitor instead of a TV. The Samsung manual indicates the USB port is for media play. It says nothing of hooking up the port to a computer. COMMENTS?

If the computer sees the TV as just another monitor (through the HDMI port) then you should be able to do it via display settings.

Doubtful you can do it through the USB port.
