Would the next gen games take the advantage of having many threads or cores? Cause I'm little worried, especially this is my first time to build a rig and I want it to be future proof.

We all know the AMD's product are much cheaper than the Intel, but right now Intel's ahead over AMD (my opinion) even AMD have these cpu that have 6-8 cores .So I would like to know if I'm still gonna settle for an i5-3xxx or settle for a fx6-8? My budget for a cpu is $200 more or less. And I'll appreciate if anyone could explain me further about having an 8core:8threads(AMD FX 8xxx) and a 4core:4threads (i5-3xxx), which of the two is better?

And one more thing, power consumption is a big deal for me

P.S. Ill use it for gaming. Ill only do 720p

they should not utilize more than 4 cores

the i5 would be better over the AMD Processors as it beats them in almost every benchmark if your are primarily gaming then go for the i5 if you wanted to do cpu intensive applications aswell you should consider the Xeon 1230V2 as it has 4 cores and 8 threads where as the i5 has 4 cores and 4 threads but only go for the xeon if you will be video editing and cpu intensive applications aswell, the i5 is better for gaming
