Hello
I am looking for a database software for the mining industry. It must be able to handle a lot of spatial data as well as assay data and be able to connect those data sets. Also it must be versatile enought to export the data for use in GIS programs (such as GEMS, Vulcan, Surpac, Minesight, Leapfrog, etc.). I am using Microsoft Access right now but I am lokking for other options. If anyone knows any good software (with specifications if possible) it would help me a lot. I have looked though the internet already and called some software enterprises but there is so much out there and I don't really have experience with many databases to know which one to go for.
Thanks a lot

You'll need a detailed list of your requirements (you might have more than those listed here) then email this to various companies.

I'm guessing there will be quite a few relational db choices.

From a quick Google:

--> for example, check out what it says about Microsoft SQL Server

The platform used (Access, MS SQL, Oracle, MySQL) is only a tiny part of the solution. They all have strengths and weaknesses.
What it does, how you access it, and what it outputs is far more important.

You really need to sit down with a requirements analyst and flesh out what this thing needs to do. A good RA can often bring to light other capabilities that you haven't even considered were possible.

There are about 1,000 questions I would ask before the first line of code was written, or the platform decided upon.
