Hi guys,

Currently my spec is:

Intel i5 - 3570k (with stock cooler)
ASRock Extreme 4 m-ATX motherboard
GPU: GTX 670
600W Corsair Builder
8gb ram,
1terrobyte HDD,

I play Guild Wars 2 mostly (very intensive CPU game it seems).

I have literally only just (today) brought 2 more case fans and some more Thermal Paste. I have just reapplied thermal paste to my stock cooler as I thought it was maybe because of that, I have also brought 2 case fans for blowing cold air into my case, with a fan at the back for exhaust.

HOWEVER, when playing Guild Wars 2, my GPU seems to be fine (GTX 670) at around 65 degrees on full load, but my CPU seems to be overheating. Max temps I got on CPUid was 81 degrees on Guild Wars 2, and im sitting on around 38 - 40 degrees idle just writing this forum post.

Any ideas on what I could do? I can't buy a new aftermark CPU cooler as my case is Micro ATX and is literally no room for that now and also financial means.

Thanks a lot guys, I hope you can help.

I haven't overclocked the CPU no.

The method I used was to take out the CPU, put a little blob of paste in the middle (around the size of a pea maybe) and sit the stock cooler back on top.

I will check the stock fan is in properly and it's touching the CPU, i'll take it off and if the paste has smudged properly then yes it will be touching, I will check.

Also, what do you mean by the pull on bottom and push out the top :p?

The stock cooler uses a rather loose fitting arrangement to clamp it down and it will suffer if you use too much TIM. Clean up your last application, then put a small amount in the center of the cpu as you did last time. Then, use either an old credit card or a piece of saran wrap over you finger and manually spread the TIM over the cpu. You want the thinnest possible layer you can get. Take your time and really work the TIM around so that you clear out any air gaps. Then reinstall the cooler.

If you still have temp issues, you might want to look at installing an intake fan in your side panel as close to the cpu as possible to pull in fresh air directly onto the cpu/cooler.

Help! I've just reapplied the thermal paste to how you've said. Now I'm trying to put the stock cooler back on but I've noticed 2/3 of the clips keep bending outwards as I place them in the holes on the motherboard? I'm clamping the clips back into place with my fingers but every time i try and push them down in the holes on the mobo, 1 of the 2 plastic clip things bend outwards :s what do I do?!

Thanks for the help!
