Hi I've got a bit of problem. I've recently upgraded my GPU from Nvidia GTX 570 to AMD 7970 and I've got a problem with scaling. Previously on my Nvidia card I could change the setting to override Windows so that it'll scale to full screen. I have a 2560x1440 monitor but I sometimes have play games at 1080p (i.e Metro Last Light or Crysis 3)

With Nvidia it works fine but with my new AMD card it doesn't scale. I just get black borders around the screen when it's at 1080p -

- Problem

I'm using DVI-D so I can't set the scale option to 0% doesn't allow me, and did set the desktop to 1080p and turn on GPU scaling and back to 1440p and still no different.

Any advice would be great to solve this problem. Running latest AMD version beta 13.11 and running Windows 8.1

Thanks

Already tried this under CCC I have Image Scaling turned on and it's selected as Scale image to full panel size and is no different.

Check your overscan settings.

Won't allow me. I'm using a DVI-D cable not HDMI no overscan settings are available to me.

The cable is dual link and you have it set at 60Hz output?

Yeah, It is same cable and monitor I was using with the 570 and as said that was fine and is set to 60hz.

Appreciate help none the less. It is a weird one. The only thing that comes to mind that may cause it. Is perhaps something with Windows. Nvidia has an option to override the Windows settings so I'd it's odd that AMD doesn't have a similar option.

Really hoping someone might have an answer or whether any else has experienced this before. I did some more testing, a few games do scale full screen. Tried Mass effect 3 and NFS Hot pursuit which work. BF3 doesn't and neither does Bioshock Infinite.

I'm having this exact same issue. I've found that the problem only exists under DVI, not under HDMI. That it's only with a few games (more intensive ones it appears) and that it's not an issue with my TV over HDMI. I've started a thread myself here with more details: http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-1882537/black-ba...

I'm beginning to think that my older monitor (Acer T230H) is the culprit here. But it wasn't an issue in Windows 7. I'm currently running the same as you, Windows 8.1 and Catalyst 13.11 alongside a Powercolor 7870 Tahiti LE (which has the same core as a 7950).
