Won't start after replacing CPU cooler fan

This was a step beyond my previous forays inside the computer. I have changed out memory many times. I don't know if I'm missing something simple and obvious or if it's worse than that.

Case: Cooler Master HAF 922
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
Motherboard: ASUS P8H67-M EVO

I was having overheating issues and replaced the CPU cooler. When I turn on the power, the motherboard standby power LED comes on, plus two other LEDs, so that should mean the motherboard is getting power(?)

When I push the power that usually boots up the computer, nothing happens. I have checked all the connections I could find.

What I removed during the cooler installation:
PWR_FAN
CHA_FAN1
CPU_FAN
Network card
Audio card

The most obvious-looking place for an error is the PWR_FAN, but I've checked it several times. Black wire to ground.

One possibility haunts, which is maybe I put the CPU in upside down. I don't think so, but I can't be certain. Would that account for it not starting? I don't want to pull of the new CPU cooler if I don't have to, but it's the only thing I can think of to check.

Thanks for any suggestions!

OK, see if your power button cable connected to the motheboard - it's a tiny, black 2pin jack with a work "POWER" (usually) on it. Maybe you accidentally pulled it off the motherboard when you were replacing fan.

OR if you have your motherboard manual - you could go and see where the power button cable supposed to be connected to and make sure it is there.

If it is connected - make sure it is connected to the proper place, where it is supposed to be.

Ok, I put the CPU in the wrong way. I was being so careful applying the thermal paste, that part went completely out of my head.

The case fans start up and heard the post beep. I feel very lucky!

Thanks for being there, Tom's
And thanks for the quick response, Gaidax
