Hey guys, i've been cracking my head over this for a while, hope someone help me out!
Allow me to explain my situation.

I have a evga GTX570 2,5GB version in my desktop which has 2 DVI outputs, an HDMI output and a DisplayPort. (it supports max 2 outputs at once) I use a dual screen setup where both screens are connected to both DVI outputs. And i also have my TV hooked up to the HDMI port using a 5m hdmi cable.

Occasionally, i want to watch a movie/play some games using my TV screen. I'd disable one of my regular (DVI) screens and enable the HDMI TV in the nvidia control panel. This has worked fine for years.

Now last week i was moving some stuff around and doing regular maintenance on my desktop when i think i broke the HDMI cable, the connector ends came out of the shell so to speak and i could bend it both ways. Sure enough, the pc didn't even recognize the TV anymore and neither did the TV see any signal on the HDMI input. I thought, no biggie, i'll get a new cable.

So i got a fresh new 5m long cable and replaced the broken one, however i have troubles getting it to work.

The PC recognizes the TV just fine, proving the make and model in the details even. So i'm able to disable one of the DVI monitors and enable the TV just fine. However i never get a picture on the TV. The TV shows that it has a connection(?) since the HDMI1 channel is enabled (which otherwise it isn't). But it keeps showing a No Signal sign. I've changed resolution from 1080p 60/75hz all the way (in steps) down to 480i 25hz. But not even the smallest resolution gave me a picture.

I figured the new HDMI cable might be broken as well, but when i physically connect the HDMI cable to one of the DVI slots using a HDMI>DVI converter i get perfect picture on the TV. So the cable is able to carry the signal.
I've thought that maybe i'd need a higher grade HDMI cable or that the HDMI output on the gfx card could be broken, but i doubt both since they do carry over data (like make and model) in the first place.

I'm not sure how i could test the functionality of my HDMI output, nor do i have a spare high quality HDMI cable i can try out. So i thought maybe the nice folks at TH create a lightbulb when they think about this.

Thanks for the read and if you can show me the correct direction that would be great :)

Does your TV have more than on HDMI port? If so try one of the others to see if any of those work.
If you only have the one HDMI port, are there any other HD TV's in your house you could test out?
Generally I think that the port on your TV has kicked the bucket, best to take it down to a repair place. Although depending on how old the TV is, it may be cheaper to just get a new one rather than pay to get it repaired.
Hope that provided some sort of clarity for you.

Hey mike, thanks for your quick reaction.

The TV's HDMI ports are fine. As i said i got a perfect picture when i connected the HDMI port on my TV with my DVI port of my graphics card (using a HDMI>DVI connector). And i just double checked with my raspberry pi that both HDMI ports on the TV function fine.

It's the HDMI out on the graphics card im more concerned about.

If you think you broke the cable (guessing you pulled it out of the i/o shield), you may have also broken the internal connetions to the m/b. You can try turning off and unplugging your rig and then using a flashlight to check inside the connector to see if perhaps any contacts remain from the old cable. If you find anything like that, use a toothpick to try to remove it.

Chances are the socket/connector itself has broken a trace or other connection on the bottom of the m/b.
