Hi guys,

This has been driving me crazy. I thought it was my hard drive, but I just put an SSD in my laptop and I still get about 1 minute extra in the boot before the logo.

This is the error:

ata2: link is slow to respond, please be patient (ready=0)
ata2: SRST failed (errno=-16)

ata2 appears to be my DVD-ROM. Perhaps it's broken? Should I take apart my laptop and disconnect the DVD-ROM to see if that fixes it?

Here is my dmesg:

Thanks.

Yep, I'm taking the drive out tonight and hopefully that fixes the problem. Sucks if it's broken but I don't use a DVD-ROM very often... only when installing OSs.
