How do i add a new hard drive to my computer.

Basically i have my 4 year old hard drive and i wanted to upgrade it. I bought a 250gb ssd drive and want to install it. I want windows 7 to run off of my new hard drive and i want to format my old one so there is nothing on it anymore. How do i do this? please help

Do you want to keep your existing installation? If so, usially SSD drives come with clone utility.
If you have installation media / licenses for your software, I would rather start from scratch:
- disconnect your old drive, and connect SSD
- boot off Windows CD/DVD, isnstall Windows / application etc
- connect your old drive on separate interface, copy over other data off it
- once happy with results - reformat your old drive
