I have the Asus Sabertooh 990FX and 16 gigs of ram, I have had these parts for nearly a year.

When I upgraded my CPU heat sync and fan (Since the stock was no longer as efficient) It hung over a ram slot so I had to work with one less stick.

That was fine with me but when I booted up my computer it said I had 12 gigs of ram, but only 3.9 useable. The bios says I have 4 gigs of ram but recognizes all three sticks plugged in.

I was wondering if anyone could help with this problem

My specs:
Mobo: ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
Ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1066
CPU: AMD FX-4170 Zambezi 4.2GHz (4.3GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+
Power: CORSAIR Builder Series CX600 V2 600W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS
GPU: SAPPHIRE 100358OCL Radeon HD 7770 GHz Edition 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16

In trying to straighten out the pin the pin itself fell off and the computer would no longer boot. I had to order a new CPU and when I got it installed my computer now recognizes 10.9 out of 16 gigs of ram (managed to fit all my sticks in)
