Processors are electrical components, there are no moving parts. Dropping it can physically fracture the materials. Incorrectly overclocking can fry connections.

Some electrical damage may be visible, but not necessarily.

What exactly happened?

Yesterday I was talking on these forums about the processor possibly being dead , it's on these forums the forums lead me to believe it was the mobo but a fall did happen with the processor when moving it into a new motherboard , when I called gigabyte they said that error 15 was pre- memory north bridge initialization is started could also be due to the internal cpu memory controller.
