Approximate Purchase Date: This week

Budget Range: $1500 (this needs to include a monitor, so I budgeted around 1200 for the pc itself)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming, surfing web

Are you buying a monitor: Yes, and I could use a few suggestions.

Parts to Upgrade: Everything....I currently have a laptop, so can't reuse anything

Do you need to buy OS: Yes, still can't decide which one I want

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: newegg, but will consider others if you know of really good deals going on

Location: Iowa City, IA

Parts Preferences: Intel and Nvidia

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe in a year or so

Your Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080? Been awhile since I've bought one

Additional Comments: I'm planning on using this pc for Battlefield 4 and would like to run it with video settings on high. I don't need anything flashy looking, just want a great running system that will play the current games and the games for the next few years.

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: To play BF4, and I'm finally out of college and have money to build a computer again!

Ok, here is what I have currently. I mainly want to know if anything is completely overboard where I could save a bit of money. Or if you think there are any parts that could be better so the system is balanced. This is my first build, so please let me know if there is anything I forgot to order as well. I am still trying to figure all this out. I've been reading a lot, so hopefully this is good. Thanks in advance for the help!!!

Solution
There's no such thing as i5-4770k. If you mean i7-4770k, that CPU is more than you need for gaming. There is no reason to get it unless you have extra money to burn.

I would stick to the i5-4670k and use the money saved to get a better monitor and other parts.

You don't need 16 GB RAM. 8 GB will do.

You can swap out the Samsung 840 Evo for the regular 840. There's very little difference and you save $20.

With the money you save from above, I suggest getting a R9 280X. The combo deal with the CPU and GPU isn't that great. 4670 by itself runs for $210 and 760 goes for $250 so you're not saving a lot of money there. And the 280X is more powerful and at the $300 price point it is a very very good buy.

EDIT:
For the monitor I suggest the Asus VG248QE. It is 1080p, 144 Hz - great for playing first person shooters like BF4. It is going for $280 on Newegg right now so it might stretch your budget a little but if you can find a way to make it work it is a really good deal.

As for OS, I suggest Win8.1. It is better than Win7 in a lot of ways. If you hate the Modern UI I can attest to the fact that you can completely avoid it. If you miss the Start Menu...well there are 3rd-party apps out there that try to replicate it, but honestly it's not a huge loss and doesn't take too much time to get used to.
