So,what exactly is the difference?
Your answers are greatly appreciated, thanks for taking the time to read and care!

EDIT:Also, can't find the full specs in Amazon for the 280x

What programs are you using for modelling and rendering? If they are CUDA enabled apps then get the 770

Simple, for gaming the 770.And other tasks like rendering the 280X

For compute: check out these benchmarks. The R9 280X has about the same compute performance as the 7970, so you can just replace one for the other in the benchmarks on that page.

For gaming, the GTX 770 is maybe 5% faster in some games. In other games the 280X can match or even outperform the 770.

EDIT:
I suggest you get the R9 280X. It has much better compute (up to 2 or 3x as much power as the 770 in non DirectCompute settings) and is only marginally slower in a subset of games.

Will it perform well on games like BF 4,PlayRust.com,PlayNether.com ?

Not familiar with those websites. As for BF4, it you are not CPU bottlenecked, 280X is good enough to run it at ultra settings, 1080p, at 50-60+ FPS minimum.

Factor in this, the 280x is a rebranded 7970ghz edition, which is able to overclock very well. Of course AMD cards have far better compute performance but at the end of the day I'd wager that a 280X would perform both better in games and rendering tasks. Even more so if we're talking 1440p, as AMD cards excel at higher resolutions.

Well the 7970 and the 280x are pretty much the exact same card, just different names and a higher clock speed on the chip and the memory. So if you find a 7970 cheaper than a 280x, pick it up, because you can usually overclock it yourself to match the performance of the higher clocked card. The 7950 is the step down from both of those cards, and they are going for around $200 right now if you shop around a bit. The 7950 is a great card as well. I'm not really familiar with modelling and rendering performance of graphics cards, but I can tell you that the 7950 is a great card for 1080p gaming. You'll get great FPS at Ultra setting no problem.

I'd go for the 280x, for sure. It looks like an awesome card, and is the most powerful card that fits the top end of your budget :) But if a 7970 is on sale for less, you can pick it up and OC it for the same level of performance.

Yeah I've seen the 7970 for as little as $270 with a rebate, but you have to catch it with a daily sale. Value for performance goes back and forth between the 2 companies, especially at the upper end like this. They always try to one up each other lol, which definitely benefits us :) I bought a 770 when they came out, and at the time it was the best performer. It is a fantastic card, plays games unlike anything I've ever owned, and I do not regret buying it at all. AMD has fired back nicely with the prices of their "new" lineup, so this 280x is definitely the best buy at this performance range right now. Nvidia will fire back at some point, it's always fun to see the results :)

I have the 770 2gb. its a great card/ runs everything ultra and 30% to 60% power consumption also never goes above 60oC. These cards from AMD are good but offer limited overclocking especially the 290x. There like a heater for your case but if you don't mind that go for the cheaper option. normally that wont help your wallet in the long run... My not a fan boy I have the 770 and for me its handled everything I throw at it

In my personal preference can say that between the two options, the 280x and the 770, i would go with the 280x, although AMD are somewhat renown for lacking driver stability and having issues i can tell you that out of all the cards from AMD this falls in the sweet spot for price/performance ratio. The 280x is a slight improvement over the 7970 and i think the designs along with a decent amount of overclocking potential would win this for me personally. However whilst saying this the Nvidia cards are powerful and have some cool features such as shadow play which from what i hear is a good little addition to the cards. Personally though i would not class Physx as a "massive" addition to the card itself. But that is my standpoint on it especially as AMD have started to get there act together recently with drivers etc + good cooling options available. And who knows, if mantle really does take off then you may see the AMD cards pull ahead in the future.
