I am trying to a small overclock on FX-6300 on the MSI970A-G46 board. I can get the overclock stable using AMD Overdrive.

But when I make the same changes to CPU voltage in the bios. The voltage always resets to stock 1.275 when Windows starts. Core Temp shows the stock voltage, while CPU-Z shows the voltage set in the bios.

I would believe that Core Temp is not reporting properly except my overclock is no longer stable. I can work around this by setting the voltage in AMD Overdrive. Core Temp then reports that higher voltage.

If I uninstall Overdrive I cannot get the overclock stable because the voltage never rises above the stock voltage even though CPU-Z shows the higher voltage.

All my other bios settings appear to work multipliers etc.

Anybody have any thoughts?

This is prolly a dumb question, but are you "SAVING" your changes when you make voltage adjustments in the BIOS?

Thanks for your repsonse. Yes, I am saving the changes. I can see in CPU-Z my bios setting. It is like a remnant of the Catalyst Control Center of Overdrive is forcing the voltage back down. I work around it by reinstalling Overdrive and bring the voltage back up to where I want need it.

It is a solution but it is unsatisfying.
