I made a hasty purchase recently of a set of 2x 8gb G.Skill RipjawsX DDR3-1600 PC-12800 (part #: F3-1600C9D-16GXM) to go in my ASRock 990FX Extreme9 motherboard that I'm building my new system around. I neglected to check the compatibility listing on ASRock's webpage beforehand like the idiot I am. I checked the official listing after I received the motherboard and the RAM and noticed that this RAM isn't on the list. My question is: Will it work, or should I send the memory back and pick from the list of compatible hardware? I emailed ASRock asking this very question, but have thusfar not heard anything back. Thanks for the help!

Yes they should work. Usually compatibility problems are with the voltage of the RAM and what your CPU recommends, usually this kind of question is asked by people who have an Intel processor that recommends 1.5v RAM when they bought 1.65v RAM. You however already have 1.5v RAM so that shouldn't be a problem (plus it's an AMD board). There is also the speed. Check your CPU supported bus speed to ensure you actually are getting the 1600, less than that will be lowered to the highest compatible speed.

Just make sure to look at the mobo manual for which slots to put the dual channel RAM into. Some boards are different but I think that you never put them right next to each other. It will either be (slot 1 and 3) or (slot 2 and 4) hope this...

Look for DOCP or EOCP in the BIOS, enable it and select 1600, if those options aren't available, manually set them up and set the DRAM voltage up + 0.05 over the DRAM spec (if 1.5 set to 1.55) and if any problems, give me a shout, may need to raise MC voltage
