Hi Guys,
i wanted to get some feedback from you all.
I've started to create a "media frame" and wanted to get your thoughts on functionality/features.
Basically it is a 14" LCD screen housed in a wooden picture frame which will have the following functions: 1. Display photos which are linked to your personal picasa account (i.e. just like a digital picture frame). Any picture you take from any device and upload to picasa will be shown on your "media frame" at home. 2. Show the weather in full screen during the morning hours from 6am-8am (configurable timing) - includes high/low, as well as graph of todays forecast. Idea is that when you wake up you can see that. 3. Show the top-3 news headlines from new.google.com in a category of your choice from 6am-8am (cycle through with the weather). 4. Well defined structure so that people can extend it and show whatever information they want when they want.
Firstly, what do you think about this product? Do you think it is useful? If not, what would make it useful?
Appreciate your feedback.
Thanks, PRA

This seems useful for a gift idea for people who are not keen on using electronics. Like end, end, end, end users... I think, at the right price point, it's a great idea, but the more tech-savvy people will already have a tablet that does all of this anyway with more versatility.

14" is kind of large, if it's intended to go right by the bed so you can 'see it when you wake up', and an alarm would be good IF that is the intent. I'd go for a smaller, maybe 5x7 frame if ^^ that is the intent.

This seems like a sky-mall gadget, and I think you're spot-on for that with features.

thanks for the feedback brightside.

the alarm idea sounds good. I've also asked for feedback from a few others as well and other features which I have heard includes:
1. include some simple reminders for morning (before leaving work), and evening (upon arrival from work). Mobile phone/tablet is definitely an overlap but this is intended to be more of a digital fixture on your bedside/entrance table
2. include way to control device using a simple webpage
3. offer very simple instructions so that professionals can buy this for aging parents as a simple device to stream photos (interesting idea - but perhaps already done?)
4. regarding size, you're right, feedback from others was also that 14" was a bit too large, the 8-10" is about the right size (large the size, higher the cost of course)

Regarding price point, looking at approx $110-$140 usd amount.

Are there other typical 'information problems' which you could of think of which such a solution could benefit from?
