I have a older Lit-On BR/DVD combo burner with lightscribe (iHB212). I was working on a home BR movie using Avid Studio. When I went to burn a disc using a BR disc the burner didn't see the disc. Tried everything I could think of. No luck with burning. I then tried a DVD+R disc and that worked. Is it possible that the BR burning part died? But still able to burn a DVD disc? Are there two laser beams or just one? I am a average user and my tech level is that.

I contacted Lite-On via email support. They are pointing to a bad drive (Blu-Ray side). Just the fact that the drive will burn a DVD disc but not a BluRay. I did read up on the drive and I found out there are two different laser beams made for a DVD burn and a BluRay burn. I don't know if that means there are two laser beams inside of the drive or not. I have CyberLinks Blu Ray disc suite and I removed the software and reinstalled and it still won't work. CyberLink does NOT post updates to there firmware. They want you to buy there newest product. Another thing is I used the driver and software a little over a week ago and it worked fine. No problems writing to a BluRay disc. So the only thing left is the burner is bad. I will order a new one and see what happens when I install the BluRay burner. Thanks for you help.
