Question about RAM

Solution
In the advanced mode of BIOS, there is a section to adjust CPU and memory settings. It may be known as AI Tweaker, then look for an option named Ai Overclock Tuner. Set this to DOCP or EOCP, then check if DRAM Frequency is set to DDR3-1866. If so, check DRAM timings and voltage while your at it. Once all correct, set CPU-NB Voltage +0.05V, F10, save, exit, then everything should be ready to go. Give a test a let us know how it goes.

Thank you

Alright I have all the parts, I installed windows 7 etc... Someone reccomeneded me to test my RAM with Memtest86 and when I run it from a usb stick the pc start doing the test and after some secs it reboots/restarts... On the bios I have the ASUS Mobo Optimized Defaults... Cause I tryed turning voltages up like Gskill support said but memtest86 kept crashing... I coul boot into windows 7 though anyways I would liek to know if my ram is GOOD so i woudl like to get memtest86 to work also I already runned furmark for gpu and and played games so gpu is good... PSU is 850w so its good and I runned Prime95 for 22mins in blend mode and nothing crashed... what settings should I use for daily use in bios so I hvae a stable ram?

Asus optimized defaults sets everything to auto and my ram now isnt on the timings G.skill specified... its on 11-11-11-28 and it shoudl be on 9-10-9-28 also its running at 1600Mhz and it should be running at 1866Mhz

I loaded asu optimized defaults to start cleab an did this:
1. Set it to docp
2. Set Dram oc profile to ddr3 1866mhz
3. Set memory frequency ddr3 1866Mhz
4. Set timings:
Dram CAS Latency: 9
Dram RAS to CAS Delay: 10
Dram RAS Pre Time: 9
Dram RAS Act Time: 28
5. Set Dram command rate to 2T
6. Raise Dram voltage from 1.500 to 1.550
7. Cpu an nb has offset and manual mode... I chosed offset:
Cpu/nb voltge is 1.75v
I set the offset to 0.050000
8.save and reboot
9. Open bios
10. Choose boot menu and choose the usb stick with memtest86 4.3
11. Test starts some bars statt fillingng up in the test etc and it crashes while doibg te test and reboots... With optimizided defaults at 1600mhz and the optimized defaults timings it does the same... The pc is still usable... I play games on it but they arent games that are too resource hubry to use 8gb of ram so ye idk i just want a stable ram...

My bad cpu/nv voltage was 1.175 not 1.75...
Anyways i tested each individually on the mobos single memory reccomended slot...

Both failed at the settings... So i swaped them... The one that was on the right got swapped to left an the one on the left to the right, i pressed "memok" button on mobo, it started the pc, it said it recognized the ram and set the ram up at 1600mhz and some otger settings, i runned metest86 and it worked...
Im more relaxed now that i know that they work, i dont know if theres a big change from 1600 to 1866 but anyways if its possible to get it, why not? Ill post you the settings the pc used to pass memtest86 in some mins

Anyways thinking a bit about it I think we can get the following problema out of the way:

1.since they both worked together with memok settings i suppose the ram sticks are good and arent faulty

2. Since when they were testes single eithe the settings i posted before and failed i suppose the settings are the problem since 2 togwther at memok settings worked

I still dont know if... Cpu can handle both at 1866... Even though gskill support said on anotger thread all fx cpus can handle 1866 we just have to know how to set them up... And also maye the problem could be voltages are wro glu setup? Ill post a picture of my bios settings soon

No your right, not all can handle 1866, the FX CPUs are actually native to 1333 NOT 1866 and is shown as sucjh in the Freq guide, (It's also in more detail in their BIOS and Kernel Programming Guide)

http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/ddr3memoryfrequencyguide.aspx

Basicall it shows that FX CPUs can handle UP TO 1866 AT 1 DIMM PER CHANNEL, it's no different from Intel i.e. some 3570K for example can handle 2400 or even 2666 DRAM while many (if not most, can't)

Anyways i went to the bios to chek settings... Timings were 11 11 11 24 1t, dram voltage 1.5v and it leaved cpu/nb from last time at 1.225v if im not wrong... So i tryed setting cpu/nb v to auto and memtest crashed so i set it back to 1.225v and it still cashed so im back like before... Ugh ill try to simulate what i did before... Nuways i woukd love to know what the problem is... I wantvto run this at 1600 stable... Idc about 1866 anymore

This is just sooo weird anyways i figured out that if i set all settings like i specified before, save and turn off the pc, take out both rams, place them back in an press the memok button and then from boot menu open memtest86 it works... But i think cpu/nb stays with 0.05 extra voltage... Ill try to use optimized defaults remove rams and place them back in and press memok to see what happens

Ive got the latest bios, what do you mean with mobo drivers? Also idk if i can take out the cpu... I mean i dont have thermal paste, so if i take the heatsink out to take the cpu out idk if then i can place the heatsink back down on the cpu... I heard i have to reapply thermal paste anyways when i had to place the cpu i remember it fitted perfectly in place... Idk if yhe was a broken or bent pin since i didnt look pin by pin if one was broke... Anyways since i said cpu runned on prime95 blend mode for 22mins with no errors at 60/61c max temperature with stock heatsink.
And as I said when i boot with memok button and then i do memtest86 the test works... I completed the test before... My guess is mobo is acting weird... Should I downgrade bios? Since the bios update im on which is the latest is said to have "better stability" its version 2006... Maybe if i dpwngade to the version mobo came with which is i think 1903 it could work? No idea...

Also i wanted to add everytime I boot the pc the DRAM_LED (Red LED) on the MOBO blinks 2 times and also I think I'm currently using only 6GB isntead of 8gb idk why...

By the way as Tradesman said if my cpu cant handle 1866 so I have to run them at 1600... which timings, voltage, etc should I run it at? also should I set this timings, voltages etc with ai tweaker set on manual/docp/auto? and the cpu/nb voltages in offset/manual? I dont really care much about memtes86 at the moment sicne the pc gets crazy frames in all teh agmes I tryed it with... such as sleeping dogs, tomb raider, Saints row 4 and Minecraft so yeah... Ill always give memtes86 a try but if it still doesnt work... meh atleast I have the right timings, voltages and speed...

Thanks a lot, Really appreciated!

Alright but after I set them... How do i know the ram is stable? Any program you reccomend? Prime95? Something else? Memtest86 crashes so idk
