Hi, currently I have installed a 5.1 (planning for a 7.1 for movies etc) sorround and sound is pretty much bad from the Asus Rampage 3 extreme when I hit over 40% of sorround system volume.

I was looking at the creative Z which I like but as I am planning to do a 7.1 I was looking at the asus rog phoebus SOLO.

What is your advice guys?

If you are one with 7:1 ratio home theatre speakers or headphones and want the best sound quality, it is worth it, though I wouldn't call the Asus ROG Phoebus a theatre sound card. That's more for gaming. If you want the best sound quality, go for either the Asus Xonar Essence STX or the Creative Titanium XF-I HD. Both are the best sound cards available today.

The Asus Essence STX doesn't support Dolby Digital and DTS. Go for the Asus Xonar D2. But do you really need a sound card? If you just send the SPDIF to a receiver stick to the onboard audio. Usually good enough.
