Internet Drops In and Out During the Day

First off, i don't know much about networking and stuff like that, so if there is some sort of info you may need me to post if you could just tell me what and how to get it ill gladly post it.

So about a few months ago we upgraded our internet to 10mb/s from a 1mb i think. when we had the 1mb/s connection it was flawless. It never dropped out, and when it did, it was rare and our ISP would solve the problem very quickly.

About a month ago, every day around this time... anywhere from 1-6 hours my connection will come in and out and it never stays on for more then 10 minutes before disconnecting for another minute, then coming back on for 30 seconds, then maybe cutting out again for a few seconds, then on...then off... and so forth... We have tried calling our ISP about this, and either they don't care, or don't know what it is. its ridiculous cause they charge us quite a bit for an inconsistent connection and when something is wrong they are at a loss for words and don't know what to do.

Its strange though.. cause at night our connection is perfect, never cuts out, never does anything its not supposed to.
Ive come to the conclusion that its not my router(we've tried a direct connection to the modem and the problem persist), Its not my computer or any other devices.

after calling and explaining all this to our isp, they could only guess that there was a tear in a wire somewhere. as i said before, i dont know much about networking and stuff like that, but could a tear in a hardline really cause an issue like this at specific times during the day, it seems so unlikely.

the only other option i think it could be, is on my ISP's end. either there too stupid to know how to fix it or they just dont know what it is and are to ignorant to think the service they provide could ever be flawed on there end.

if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions, i would greatly appreciate it.

I play lots of poker online, and ive lost an in-manageable amount of money due to this connection error specifically. I just want my internet back so ANY info at all would be helpful.

Understood. If the only thing that has changed is the speed of your service, then the service is the problem. Sorry, but I don't think you can do anything but fight with your ISP. I suggest requesting them to inspect all of the lines coming into your home.

Who is your ISP? Also, do you have the option to change ISPs in your area?

From what you described, it does appear to be a problem in the network, outside of your home. Have you spoken to a manager at your ISP (elevated the issue)?

unfortunately i couldnt tell you the isp, its the privately owned phone company here in town, i live in a pretty remote area, so i dont really have the option of switching ISP cause i would have years ago :p.

And my brother raised hell with them kinda. lol. they just kept insisting that it was on our end. But i just dont see any possible way it could be.

well we use a belkin wireless router, but we already tried taking that out of the equation and it didnt help. we have a dsl based modem. resetting the modem, and the router and all that other typical stuff doesnt help it.

welll alright man, thanks alot for the opinion and the quick response.

incase your wondering what im dealing with, lol here is a picture of the last hour, this is a picture from a torrent program i use, its the speed tracker, but i just took it so you can see how often my net drops, every square in the picture counts for five minutes, the chart itself is the last hour (when i first posted).

thanks again for the help, i really appreciate it, have a good day. :)
