I am a total noob in choosing the right PSU for my new system, so my question is:

Is this PSU (500W be quiet! System Power 7 Bulk Non-Modular 80+ Silver) sufficient for powering an AMD FX 6300 CPU and an ASUS Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition DirectCU II v2 on an ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 mainboard?

It should also power a 1TB Seagate 7200RPM HDD and a LG DVD burner and a CoolerMaster Hyper TX3 Evo CPU fan.

I would appreciate any help :)

Regards.

Yes. With those parts your system would take about 400w at 90% load.

Also about 400w. This is a good resource for calculating psu requirements. Just keep minimal future upgrades in mind like 4 sticks of RAM, extra hdd, etc.
