Hi,

I'm building a new system, I'm thinking of 8.1 for its efficiency, but I master 7 pertty well. Are the improvements in 8.1 worth the learning curve or is 8.1 like win vista or ME (to skip)?

Thanks for your testimony!

If you own a copy of Windows 7 use it, if not buy Windows 8.1.

Windows 8 is better on a technical level and the only thing you need to learn is how to use Metro interface which takes about a minute to figure out.

3 months later:
Thank you you to all your suggestions!
I gave Win 8 a try, I cried, then I noticed that it was fast.
I chose to keep it when I discovered that it is possible to bypass Metro interface in Taskbar properties/Navigation tab (lots of nice check-boxes...)
The fake start button is much better when you right click it to the power user menu... (same as Windows+X)
