Hey guys,

Looking at building my first gaming pc soon and originally I had the 760 as the GPU for it but I've since found benchmarks saying the 670 is the better card. Now I understand that the 760 is an upgraded 660ti and the 770 is better than the 680 so should I go with the 670?

The 760 and 670 are around the £200 mark and the 680 is over £250 so I'm guessing the 670 is the best out of the three?

I don't know what prices are like in the UK, but I would suggest taking a look at the R9 280X. Here in the US at least the 280X is $50 more expensive than the 760 and roughly on par with the 670 in terms of price, but closer in performance to a GTX 770.

The 760 is marginally slower than a 670, but the 670 is still rather expensive depending on which card you buy. You would be best by going for the best price for performance which is the 760.

I would say go with the 760.

Either one will suffice:

Right now, it seems like if you want to get a GTX 770, the R9 280X is a better choice. It comes in at $50 more than the GTX 760, but performs identical (or very similarly) to the $400 GTX 770. However, I have read that with the announcement of the R9 290X and new Nvidia cards (like the GTX 780 Ti), there may be a price reduction in the GTX 770 and other cards. That's why I'm not pulling the trigger on anything yet. I'm interested to see what exactly gets a price reduction and by how much, because those reductions may sway me away from the R9 280X which seems to be the best deal right now.

Splendid
Go for the 770, save up a bit more , its a great card and will give you the performance you are after. Its worth the performance jump from the other cards you were looking at. Hopefully the prices drop soon so you can get a good deal on one.

I'm not sure Black Friday happens in the UK.

The price difference is around £120 between the 760 and 770. Is the 770 really worth the extra? If it is and will "future proof" (as much as I hate hearing that phrase) my computer for quite a while then I'll do it.

The rest of my pc will be i5 3570k, 8gb Ram 1600, 250gb SSD so this should do me for a while.

I wish there was a way to tell quickly if someone was American or not on this site, like a flag of the users country of origin next to their name. :/

I think the 770 isn't worth it compared to a R9 280X which basically performs almost the same as a 770, but only a little more expensive than a 760.

I was looking at the R9 280X today and it seems like a good contender. The Mantle thing is quite interesting and the gap between the 760 and 770 is just too big at the moment.

If the price of GTX 770 does not get reduced soon and it stays at $400, the R9 280X will easily be the best price/performance at the $300-ish range.

Well over here the 760 is roughly £200 (which seems like a good price), the 770 is around £330 and the R9 280X is around £250.

Without trying to sound stupid is PhysX a big deal? Do AMD cards come without PhysX? It's one of the main things I see being moaned about on youtube reviews in between Fanboy spats.

Physx is Nvidia only, and it is only supported in a few triple AAA titles, it does make the games look better, but not a huge deal since it will hurt performance at times quite a bit.

If you want Physx just stick with the 760, and go with a 760 Hawk Edition like the guy above mentioned since it's clocked really high, otherwise a 280X is a good card to choose for the price.
