Which monitor should I go for?

Hi,

I'm not that good when it comes to monitors so this question might seem silly but bear with me.

So atm I have a Dell Ultra Sharp 2407wfp-hc 24 inch, 60 Hz, 6ms response time and I believe it's a PVA Panel (something like that).
Now where I live it is a little hard to find some good Computer gear to say the least but while "browsing" through some of the IT stores at the mall today a monitor caught my eye.

It's an LG 22EA63V, IPS Panel, 5ms response time, 1920x1080 and it's pretty cheap.

Note that I want to use this monitor for gaming (and maybe movies).
So my question is should I stick with my Dell or go for the LG 22EA63V?

Thanks in advance.

If you are happy with your current monitor, I would say stick with it.

Now, if your interest is really in adding a second monitor, I would say look to see if you can find another monitor like the one you currently have so that you won't notice the slight differences (sometimes major in the case of different models) between displays.

I am pretty happy with my Dell I would say.
And no, I am not interested in going for a dual monitor combo. I just want to know which of the 2 is better for gaming in terms of quality and performance.

Both should give you a decent gaming experience. IPS and PVA are generally not used as "gaming" displays, though they often give better viewing angles and, incidentally, better colors, contrast, etc.

Since your current monitor is a 16:10 aspect ratio and the new one would be a 16:9 aspect ratio, I would say to stick with the monitor you have, especially since the new monitor wouldn't necessarily improve your gaming experience by any great degree.

Yea I know they aren't generally used for gaming but viewing angles and better colors was exactly what I was aiming for when choosing. I had a TN last year and it was horrible, I returned it immediately. As for the aspect ratio I don't mind at all the loss in size.

So from what I understand the two monitors aren't that different in terms of colors, quality etc. therefore I shouldn't bother buying the LG?

Thank you for your answers by the way.
