Hi,
I am facing an annoying problem with my laptop (Sony VGN-3015gp,windows vista 32bit).

- My laptop doesnot my home wireless network.
- however, my other laptop and smartphone perfectly detect and works with my home wireless network, and my laptop can detect and work with other wireless network

It seems, something is not compatible or dysfunction on my laptop that can not detect home wireless network. I would appreciate if you share your experience and expertise on this issue.

Hey there.

I've had this happen previously on an older laptop. It was because the network was being diffused on a channel my laptop couldn't detect.

If you can access your router, try changing the channel it's diffusing in. Not absolutely sure, but I think channels 9 and 11 have legacy support.

Changing channels will disconnect the devices connected through wireless, but it won't change any passwords or anything of that sort, it just changes the frequency of the signal. After about a minute or so they should reconnect. Keep changing channels until your laptop starts detecting it.

If your router has a signal quality analyzer (checks for people using same channels) then you could also use it just to make sure you don't end up reducing your signal's quality.

It varies from router to router, but you need to access its internal page (login info may be on the manual or written somewhere on the router), and search around on the configuration menus.

Cannot give much help since it depends on the firmware the router is running, but it's there somewhere.
