As the title says, when would be a good time to get a graphic card? Right now I'm looking at 7970 and R9 280X which are both around 300$. Would this price remain as it is for a long time, or it could be dropped in near future? (Sale Events such as Thanksgiving, Black Friday, game bundles, all that good stuff. Or after the release of game such as BF4)

Solution

I don't think so. The 280x is exactly the same as the 7970, so theres no reason to drop it. Over time they might simply disappear. At $270, its already over $20 under MSRP

Thanks for the respond. So you're suggesting that the price for 7970 would not drop no more? I did noticed that 7970's didn't drop dramatically as the release of R9 series. P.S. I'm hoping 7970 or r9 280x to drop to $250 range

Maybe I should Change my question. Would Thanksgiving & Black Friday Sales reduce the price of 7970 or R9 280x? I know this is sort of foresee the future type of question, but based on the past experience, would those thing drop in price on the events such as Thanksgiving and Black Friday?

I can safely say I highly doubt it. There are some great prices on the 7970 right now.
