After many years my old Gateway FX-6800 died, was going for a bit.
I broke down blew off the dust on my TigerDirect card and ordered part for a new system, Which my father Loves ( so he's getting it for X-Mas, Shssssss don't tell anyone!)

NZXT-810 switch - Corsair 750wt (spaghetti string version) - X60Kraken - 16g 1866 -
MSI 990FXA - 2@7770S (XFX Core) with an AMD 6200 3.8ghz Decent build.

I'm going to be building another system, the hard part for me is the Motherboard and CPU combo - Id like to build a system that will last me for few years.

NZXT-810 Switch
NZXT 1200wt psu
32 or 64g of Memory pending on the board (Again this will be a 7yr build)
2 @ ZOTAC AMPD' GTX 780s
2@ Seagate 600 240 SSD
2 @ Seagate 1TB Solid-state Hybrid
Asus BR-Burner

Hard part for me : Motherboard and CPU

Considering :
i7 4930k with ASUS Rampage IV Extreme
or
i7 4770k with Gigabyte GA-Z87x motherboard

Any Insight with this would be great - I don't get to upgrade that often but when I do I try and do it right.

7 years? without a second thought absolutely go with the 4930k and asus rampage. not to mention only the 4930k can handle 64 gb of ram. but you might wanna wait on those 780's. the 780 ti is set to release next month, and its more powerful then the titan. so even if you dont get the 780ti, expect some serious price drops on the titans and 780. and eitherway, you will definately want the titans if this is a 7 year build due to their 6gb of vram. 780's only have 3 gb. within 3-4 years 3gb of vram wont cut it anymore.

We can only hope for 7 - I acquired that old GateWay in either late 07 or early 08 (When ever the gen1 i7 920 came out).

Graphics wise im keeping my eyes open, there will be a lot of bench marks coming out in the next week as the r9-290s are estimated for the 31st of October - the 780ti I must have overlooked time to get some info on those.

Many thanks
