I currently have 3 computers networked with static ip's thru comcast. I have a 4 th address available. They ware networked in win8 thru a dlink dss-5+ unmanaged switch. I have netgear wndr3700 router that I want to use just for wireless. How can I setup the router just for wireless?

Yes. Attach an Ethernet cable from the switch to the WAN port of the WNDR. But to use it for wireless it will need to assign addresses to the connecting wireless devices (unless you want to assign static addresses for them all) so I would leave the DHCP on and use the 4th address as the WNDR WAN address and then whatever local range you want for the LAN side (192.168.x.1 as the LAN gateway). If you don't attach any devices to the LAN ports of the WNDR it will only be wireless. I recommend WPA2/AES for security.
