Hi, i searched around for the problem on the internet and lots of people say its the powersupply. BUT i just did the paperclip trick thing to see if the powersupply worked and it does. my disc thing worked also when i had my powersupply running. But when i plug the powersupply into the motherboard and have everything plugged in, it just starts making a high pitch sound u can hear it barely. This only happens when the power cord is plugged into the powersupply. Can anyone tell me what to do or tell me what is wrong? My guess is the motherboard is screwed? or could it be my power supply still?

It's definitely the psu. What your hearing is a coil whine which actually is not harmful but is certainly annoying (I'd return it if it's still under warranty and get a new one). Also, are you sure all your cables are connected to the right places on the mobo?

that coil wine or a cap wine your hearing. most time it telling you there a short in the power supply or on the computer system. the paper clip test only shows that a power supply will turn on not that it missing voltage legs. you need a volt meter to tell if a power supply working right.

Yes, i'm quite sure it's the psu. Also, have you placed your ear next to your case to see where the noise is coming from?
