I started a new build a few months ago, and started piecing parts together i went with the 4930 k but i bought a sabertooth a few months prior. i did the bios flashback to make the board compatible with the new ivy bridge e, however i did not realize that my bios may have been a .rom, instead of the newly updated .cap until i flashed it and tried to boot up the new system to only get a boot device led. i've tried taking the battery out, and using the jumper, double and triple checked my connections, and to no avail. i'm trying to boot a san disk ssd. i just have a blacked out screen and havent seen anything yet. I'm wondering what i have to do to get the bios issue resolved if that's what the problem is. that being said when i originally flashed the new version it seemed to work the way it said it would, the light started blinking for a few minutes, started going faster then stopped. i appreciate any help i could get

Solution
If the flashback does not work, you can buy a BIOS chip from ebay (or, if in US, from ASUS eStore) and replace the board's one (it's on socket).

Have you tried using the .ROM to .CAP BIOS Converter when reflashing?
"Here we will use P9X79 as an example.
1. Please go to ASUS website at http://support.asus.com. Key in the model of your motherboard, P9X79, in the search field. Then go to BIOS Utilities in the Download section, and download P9X79-CAP-Converter. Decompress and save it in the root directory of your USB flash disk.
2. Use any of following methods to update the BIOS: USB BIOS FLASHBACK, EZ Flash 2, or ASUS Update.
Note: You need to rename the BIOS CONVERTER file for use with the above flash utilities. Refer to the table below for the naming convention."

If that doesn't work you can buy a replacement bios chip on ebay for ~$15.

i've tried it, and the button only blinked once and then went solid which means error. so i'm gonna make sure the file was renamed properly, try it again, and i will get right back to you, but i did try it before.

i tried the converter again and it failed, and now nothing is even turning on, so i'm not sure what the hell is going on. the green light for the board shows power but thats about it.
