Can I install a Fire Pro W7000 with a HD Radeon 7970?

Hi I have recently bought a Fire Pro W7000, just wondering if I can put in my old 7970 card with the Fire Pro, will it boost up my system performance? Also can I crossfire them?

I am an architecture student and does a lot of heavy 3d work and heavy rendering.

Any ideas? Thanks

You can but they are both different cards with different set of drivers. Your fire pro has specific drivers set mainly used for CAD animation maya etc. So basically such cards are unoptimized 4 gaming. On the other hand d 7970 is a gaming gpu with d ability to play games on full swing.in short you might combine them but ull be unable to crossfire dem or use them simulantoeusly to boost performance.to cf you need another similar 7970 or even r9 280x to work.

Hi Caj

Thanks for the advice, I have currently have both cards installed and the system is working fine, the driver I have installed is the Fire Pro driver, does that affect the performance of the 7970?
