Hello! Before anyone starts pointing and laughing, I'm just a high school student with very little cash. This means when I went to buy a processor I literally just needed it to run and so I gave I gave it no more thought. I have made a terrible, terrible mistake.
I have a Radeon HD7770 GHz Ed.
working with an A6-3500 APU at 4.7GHz (Overclocked)
I think I've already diagnosed the CPU and its bottlenecking the GPU. However, I still do not understand what causes a very specific kind of lag in my system. When I'm playing in Battlefield 3 I can get a nice frame rate on a medium/small sized map but as soon as I move on to a larger map my frame rate drops to 20s and 30s. I'm assuming the processor is causing this issue because the rest of my system meets the recommended requirements.
My questions are: How is the CPU causing my frame rate to drop on larger, high density maps, and why? Are draw distance and level of detail heavy on the processor? Why wouldn't it be heavy on the GPU instead? Finally, would upgrading to an FX-6300 6 core processor help?
