what kind of discrete GPU's will fit in my motherboard?

PSU is the biggest problem, the SFF has a 240w, desktop has a 250w, tower has 265w, both the SFF and desktop require low profile cards.

Recommended cards by Dell are AMD RADEON HD 7470/7570, but get the GDDR5 variant, as much quicker than cards fitted with DDR3.

Okay...but i have been old on another forum that Optiplex's (specifically mine) didn't have a free PCIe slot,so I couldn't put a discrete in there

No it is about your PSU AND finding a low profile card. Most of the higher end cards you are looking at are not made in a low profile form factor and thus won't fit into your case. Unfortunately right now the 7750 is about the most powerful low profile card available for gaming. There are low profile workstation cards but they are more suited to things like CAD and tend to not have the greatest drivers for gaming (they are also pretty expensive). I had thought I read nvidia was going to offer a low profile 660, but I am not seeing one offered. I think the best performance option available to you right now is to grab a 7750 and hope that a more powerful low-profile card comes out in the future and then you would need to look at upgrading your power supply to something like a nicely rated 550w one.

AHA so even if I replace the PSU i'll still have the issue of fitting it into the case?

Well I guess that depends on how skilled you are with modding things. Ideally you would need to cut out that part of the side panel to allow for the card to fit and fabricate some sort of cover so that you still maintained the proper ventilation and seal from keeping dust out etc. Short of that you could try and relocate all of your parts into a new case, which has it's own headaches with getting everything to mount and connect properly when you are talking about OEM parts like that. It's possible it would work with the side off of your case but I would highly advise against this as it is not safe for your computer to have it's entire side open and exposed during use, you are just asking for bad things to happen when you do that.
