My searching the Internet gave no real results. If you're using audio software that supports some variety of plugin (such as VST plugins), you might be able to find one that will switch the channels. The change wouldn't be system-wide, though.
Ubercake's solution is really the simplest one.
You need two splitters.

- 2 x RCA Male, 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female cable
- 3.5mm Male to 2 RCA Female Splitter Cable

Plug your headphones into the 3.5mm female end of a 2 x RCA Male, 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female cable. Also, get a 3.5mm Male to 2 RCA Female Splitter Cable. Plug the first cable's white male connector into the second cable's red female connector, and the first cable's red male connector into the second cable's white female connector. Then plug the second splitter's 3.5mm end into the headphone or speaker out jack on your PC.

I don't know why jekylhyde wants to swap, but the reason I want to swap left and right is because for some reason my PC (windows7) has switched left and right output to my headphones and I have a pair of Sennheiser's that are shaped to go on your head only one way. It's uncomfortable to turn them around. I've looked at my wiring and the audio line plugs into my motherboard only one way (has a filled hole on the female end so I can't turn it around). I've looked on my Realtek HD audio manager and there is no selection to swap L and R output. I've even downloaded the latest driver.
