Both My desktop and laptop are unable to read the last parts of some original CDs and DVDs which are perfectly read on a CD / DVD player.

Replacing the CD / DVD for a same one makes absolutely no difference.

By last parts I mean the last track(s) / chapter(s).

Would a good quality external drive solve the problem?

Sounds like you simply need a new optical drive. They dont cost much.

Thank you very much for your kind reply. I just couldn't figure out why it is happening with 2 drives on my desktop (Dell) and 1 drive on my laptop (HP) on a few discs (with same effect across the production batch) only.

Well., that is odd. I have never ran across that particular issue, and I have duplicated and/or replicated literally hundreds of thousands, likely even millions, of DVDs and CDs.
