We are moving to a new home which has ethernet wired throughout the corners of the house, but for the most part we will be connecting laptops and devices to the wireless network.
Comcast is providing the internet service
Items we own to use in creating the network:
* ARRIS / Motorola SurfBoard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem
* Linksys EA4500 App-Enabled N900 Dual-Band Wireless-N Router with Gigabit and USB
* Older Linksys wired router
* Older Linksys wireless router (2)
* Netgear 5 port gigabit switch
Currently
The cable modem runs into the basement near a cement wall. From this, 4 cables run to different rooms in the home (bedrooms & office)
Ideally
I would think the ideal setup would be:
cable modem -> linksys EA4500 & then linksys EA4500 runs the ethernet wires to the rest of the house and we use the older routers as Access Points when plugged into the rooms in the corners of the house (bedrooms/office)
My concern is that using the EA4500 would be a waste because it's near a cement wall and wouldn't be able to provide much range from down there.
Given this equipment, how would you suggest to best set up the home network?
