I bought a motherboard for a AMD FX-4100 quad core processor and a MSI 970A-G43 motherboard and an 750W PSU but it only has a 4-pin CPU connector and the motherboard has a 8-pin one so would the 4-pin work in a 8-pin if not what should i do, is the like a molex adaptor i could buy?

It should work but does say that you bought a substandard PSU!

At one time we had no EPS connector.... then we had the 4 pin.... then we went to 4+4 during the transition to 8 pin. Now we seeing 8+4 pin.

Sounds like ya have a rather old PSU. Read ya MoBo manual to see what it's requirements are.

But would it be better to use a 4 to 8 pin adaptor or a molex to 8 pin adaptor as my CPU has a TDP of 95W

No not if the board accepts 4pin, if it does usually 4 pins will come with a cover leaving 4 open so it is clear where to plug the 4 pin in.
