CPU Cooling - Which one?!

Hey guys,

I know this question gets thrown around a hell of a lot but I'm currently using my stock AMD 8350 fan, which is not the best.. The temps have exceeded 70c which is obviously way too much. I'm not overclocking so that's not the source of the problem (just bought a new case, temps still reasonably high).

There are so many coolers I could get, but honestly I'm trying to spend less than £60 ($100) but around the £40 ($65) mark would be great.

I've looked at the NH-U12S, H60, Silverstone SST-AR03, hyper 212... Which is really best? Anybody got any ideas?

Also, if you do submit and answer it would be really helpful if you provided evidence or included something about your personal experience.

(I have an AMD 8350 so socket AM3+)

Cheers

I find this about the best site that reviews most coolers and runs them on the same system, same load, same tests all the time, to get the more accurate cooling abilities.

Check out the chart to compare some of the ones your interested in vs their cooling abilities.

They use an intel chip instead of amd, but it's the best comparison I've seen.

wow... on stock clocks, that's VERY high. even with the crappy stock cooling unit.

i have an 8320 OC'd to 4.8ghz. I'm using the cooler master 120xl liquid kit.

it's currently $65 after rebate.

at 4.8 i barely ever break 50c, so i can say taht it certainly works well.

(I also used pk3 paste, not the stuff that cooler master includes)

if you dont want a close liquid loop, the 212 evo is universally loved by all and is only $35

Thanks, I'm honestly really tight on cash right now.. Just spent yet another 100 on my PC again, but if you really recommend it I might have a look at it a bit more and possibly save for it.

Cheers
