Will Intel + AMD work well together?

I promise I am not trying to start a debate, this is a legitimate concern of mine.

In my PC I am building (I do not have any of the parts yet, I am just building it "on paper" until I get the money) I am using an Intel CPU.

However, I cannot afford an Nvidia GPU (at least not one that will give me the performance I want) so I am going for an AMD GPU.

I have heard some people saying that Intel pairs best with Nvidia, and that AMD GPU's do not mix well with Intel CPU's, and that PC's that mix those parts don't work as well as they should.

Is this true? Or will my i5 3570k work with say... a HD 7950?

Thanks in advance.

Solution
AMD GPUs work good with AMD CPUs. AMD GPUs work great with Intel CPUs. Intel hands down makes the best CPUs if price isn't a concern, and either AMD or Nvdia work well with Intel.

Thank you guys very much, it's a big relief.

I agreed with what you all are saying before I asked, but I wanted to be sure, because I have been seeing it a lot lately on youtube comments, and even on other forums.

Hard to choose a solution, all very great answers.

Also @Enemy1g I have to agree with you 100% I am a HUGE fan of Intel CPU's, they are just exquisite in my opinion. Which is why I had to choose an i5 for my new PC build.

How long do you think I'll be able to use the 280x before upgrading?
