I don't know a lot about building computers so I would like some help. I don't know how to tell if components are compatible so how do I figure out if they work together. It's there a limit to how much memory I put in the computer? And lastly how do I figure out how many watts of power I need. Thank you in advance!

hi,

Firstly for the power supply, you can use this calculator to work out the required wattage. http://www.extreme.outervision.com/psucalculatorlite.jsp

There is usually a limit to the memory you can put in a computer. For example Windows 7 Home premium only supports 16gb. The motherboards also have a limit, this can be seen when buying the motherboard as it will be in the description. You can't really get a DDR3 Ram module that is more than 8gb. So therefore, if your have 4 slots, the max you can have is 32gb.

About the compatibility. First of all, I would advise some learning- there are many YouTube tutorials on building a pc and choosing the parts. Watch a few so you know what to look for and also you are confident with the...
hi,

About the compatibility. First of all, I would advise some learning- there are many YouTube tutorials on building a pc and choosing the parts. Watch a few so you know what to look for and also you are confident with the process. The main compatibility factors are, CPU socket, chipset, Form factors for case and motherboard, Ram compatibility, PSU compatibility and other small compatibility issues. However, don't worry it is not as hard as it seems. If your are unsure, you can even post the build specs here on the forum and members will be able to tell you if it is compatible. There is a great site called pc part picker that checks compatibility for you. Here it is: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/

Finally, to learn on YouTube, you must subscribe to the follwing at least, they are great for PC tutorials: Newegg , Carey Holzman , Linus Tech Tips, NCIX, Tek Syndicate and there I many more that I could mention.

Some good videos to watch:
