Unless you already own a 965, don't get one now unless you can can find a steal of a deal.
The Athlon x4 760k would be better for much cheaper.
Or for about the same price you could get a FX 6300 that would be way better.

With that budget, an FX 4300 is your best bet. I would increase the budget a bit for the FX 6300 if at all possible. An HD 7770 is a good choice for GPU with that budget. I haven't seen any reviews for the similarly priced r7 250 to even begin to suggest one.

I wouldn't even consider an i3 for games going forward. All I have is PC partpicker for reference, but the cheapest i3 on there is £83.99 an FX 6300 is £84.65. FX 6300 with a multiplier bumped to match an FX 6350 would beat the i3 in games and many apps as well.

I only have PC part picker to rely on for pricing. That combo is the only one I saw that met the budget given. If you know of better deals, I agree, go for them.

No doubt a FX 6300 a way better option than any i3... even more so when they're the same price.
The only reason I would recommend an fm2 Athlon x4 is because it's so cheap it would allow you to jump up a whole tier with your video card.

So should i get FX 6300 and a GTX 650ti or a HD 7790 for around £150 combined
OR
x4 760k + HD 7950
Also, im from the UK (if you didn't know that). Where should i buy them from and how much would other things cost (power supply, RAM, MOBO etc.

Where are you finding a 760k and 7950 for the same cost as the FX 6300 and the lesser cards? Cheapest 7950 I have seen is £164.
