People are attracted to SSDs because they are faster but that's not the real reason to invest in one. Reliability is. You will only notice the speed increase upon booting and program launch. After a while you won't even notice that any more. Reliability lasts the life of the drive.

I say yes, absolutely. I have three, one for my OS, one for my games, and one for temp files, swap, and virtual machines. It makes such a HUGE difference. I also bought one to put in my work laptop, and it's slower than your machine. (I have a Core i5 M520, dual core with HT at 2.4GHz. The third one in my main machine was a failed attempt to get one for my laptop. OCZ drives work poorly in laptops, in case you need to know.) SSDs make such a huge difference in boot time, app load time, and general responsiveness, I highly recommend them, no matter your machine.
