get usb 3.0 capability on my computer.

I have PCI slots, SATA ports, ATA slots, but no PCI-E available on my motherboard. How can I get USB 3.9 capability in my homegrown computer? I've found USB3 to SATA, pci-e cards but nothing to bet USB 3.0 out. Anyone have any ideas or know of appropriate hardware I can acquire?

You may be able to find usb 3.0 pci cards, but please note that pci slot will actually hold the interface performance back.

The price is way over what it should be because they know not allot of people are selling pci usb 3.0 cards.

What do you want usb 3.0 for? hard drive? you may be able to use e-sata instead.

I bought a USB3 disk drive and this it what I want to connect. I do my back ups for several systems to external USB drives and would like to speed up the back ups. My MB has a couple of USB3 outlets on the back plans but they don't seem to work.

Can you check device manager and see if you are there? I am guessing it is a driver issue.

In the interim I had the same idea. I updated the driver and I can see the drive in Win Expl again. Thanks f or your help and support. It feels good to solve a computer issue.

Good to hear you got it all solved. Onboard usb 3.0 ports are almost certainly better than any pci card would be.
