Installed a new GeForce GTX 650 after old one died. Updated drivers successfully and everything works fine now. But have lost one of my two disc drives and gained a floppy drive I do not have installed. My old gpu had two power sockets and the new one only has one. Could this be the problem?

This should not be related. Power on a GPU powers the GPU, nothing else. If it's not plugged in, the PC will give you an error or not post.

Most likely, one of the two disk drives got uninstalled. I'm not sure why you have a floppy.

My motherboard drivers updated at the same time and someone suggested checking the BIOS as the floppy may have been added then.

Chip-set drivers wouldn't change anything unless you changed settings in your BIOS... but that makes sense for why you see a floppy drive.

Make sure that the second disk drive is set up in the BIOS too.

I'm not that happy about going into the BIOS as I do not know that much about computers and have not touched anything in there yet because it all looks so confusing. What are 'IDE drives'? And what should I look for to change so that the missing disk drive (an LG) is showing again. The other drive (a Plextor Blu-ray read/writer) is working and showing fine.

Any help is gratefully received.

Go to your BIOS and turn floppy drive off. They don't always take it out of the BIOS when they don't actually install one. I had the same problem until I turned it off in BIOS. This will sometimes cause your computer to not boot up as well.
