Pavilion DV6700 CTO has limit of Maximum 4GB RAM, and you can't add more than 4GB by any mean.
If you add 2x4GB, you might end up with lots of issues, which might not be solved anymore.
Never do this. Don't stick more RAM than your board supports as maximum.
