Hi there,

Im new to the community, and i have recently wanted to purchase a new CPU. I have an Asus P8P67-M motherboard which supports LGA1155 socket for intel 2nd generation core i7/i5/i3 processors. I want to buy an intel core i5 3750k quad core 3.4 GHz LGA1155 3rd generation. My question is...

Will my Asus P8P67-M be compatible with an Intel Core i5-3750k 4-core?

Please answer with detail and how i could fix this issue, or the cheapest way to fix it. I will also take suggestions on alternative CPUs aside from the i5-3750k.

Thanks!

Solution
It will work as long as your bios is at least version 3602. So, if you have a processor already working with your mobo, just update the bios, and the 3570K will work.

Otherwise, the bios might not be up-to-date. If so, the 3570K probably won't work.
depends on the motherboard manufacturer. if they had made a bios release giving compatibility for ivy bridge support, you are good to go if the bios is updated(new mobos generally will have them updated). not all mobo companies do so however make a bios revision.
